H.E. Dr.
Thong Khon, Senior Minister and President of the National Olympic Committee of
Cambodia (NOCC), expressed his gratitude to athletes from around the world who
have trusted Cambodia as a safe and attractive tourist destination.
This thanks
was made on the occasion of His Excellency presiding over the award ceremony of
the 9th Angkor Ultra Trail Day in the evening of January 24, 2026 at the court
of Chol Damrey, with the participation of H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism,
H.E. Dr. Hang Pov, Director General of the Apsara National Authority, and H.E.
Ly Se, Director General of the Angkor Foundation, and leaders of other relevant
ministries and institutions.

The medal
ceremony after the six events revealed the winners, especially the 100km race,
after many hours of hard work after setting off at 4am on Saturday, with a
total of 1,740 athletes from 52 countries, with the largest number of
participating countries being Cambodia, France, the UK, the US and Vietnam.
H.E. Dr.
Thong Khon said that, “These have seen that the Siem Reap Angkor region, the
World Heritage Site and a famous tourist destination, is a place of complete
peace and tranquility, full of charm. I would also like to thank all the
athletes who have trusted Cambodia as a safe and attractive tourist
destination.”

This event
is organized up with the aim of urging the promotion Siem Reap Angkor as an
international tourist destination, developing sports activities, promoting and
increasing informal economic development, improving the environment of the
heritage area, attracting tourists and supporting humanitarian projects that it
is a rare and wonderful event, where participants have to run through the
jungle, rural areas, villages and ancient temples in the Angkor Park area,
which is the most magnificent and famous intangible cultural heritage in the
world.
The running
disciplines in this annual event include: 8 km, 18 km, 32 km, 42 km, 64 km and
100 km.
