The Event of the Baby Olympic Games are the way to instill the sporting spirit to children from a young age. This was stated by H.E Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, at the press conference on Saturday morning, January 24, 2026, on the organization of the 1st Baby Olympics in Cambodia.

His Excellency Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports elaborated as follows: "This is to instill the Olympic spirit in children from a young age, because in the coming years, especially in the United States, which will host the 2028 Olympics, they want to know how many of the winning athletes who competed had won medals at the Baby Olympics when they were young. They want to know who has started from the Baby Olympics to become champions at the major Olympic events. This is the spirit of being an example to all people in the world that doing sports every day is a magic potion for cultivating the spirit of everyone, including children. When children are brave and strong, they learn well. So, this is a gathering to demonstrate these principles and hope that all participants will have a warm welcome in this preparation and receive good memories from the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia."

Mr. Vath Chamroeun said that, out of organization in each country, the event of the Baby Olympic Games will expand to the regional, continental and global levels, which is a special opportunity for talented children to be selected to compete to represent their country on the international stage.

The Event of the 1st Baby Olympic Games in Cambodia will be held on Sunday afternoon, February 1, 2026, at AEON III Meanchey Mall, with the participation of more than 300 boys and girls aged 1 to 7 years old, competing in 10 disciplines, which are also divided into age groups.

H.E Vath Chamroeun emphasized that, the Event of the Baby Olympics is not a competition focused on winning, but giving the opportunity for young children to participate in sports activities from a young age and strengthen the bond between children and their parents. All children, whether they win or lose, will receive medals as well as various souvenirs to keep as good memories for the children. The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia will organize this event every year.
