The 10K Women Run Day to celebrate the International Women’s Day on March 8 attracted over 4,000 participants, an increase of 20% if compared to last year, with 65% of the runners being women. This was announced by the organizing commission on March 8, 2026, at the front garden of Wat Botumvattey, Phnom Penh.

Lork Chum Teav, Koy Pisey, Chairwoman of the Women and Sports Committee of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), highlighted that the event was organized to celebrate the 115th anniversary of the International Women’s Day on March 8, especially with the participation of both men and women, demonstrating solidarity in sports for health, friendship, solidarity and environment.
Lork Chum Teav, Koy Pisey continued that, the sports sector is currently booming and women also play an important role. In this regard, Lork Chum Teav expressed her pride in the participation of women in sports, and she will continue to encourage more girls and women to participate in sports for their own health and the harmony of the national society.

Mr. Sem Phalla, Technical Director of the Cambodia Marathon Commission, stated that the 2026 Women’s 10K Run Day has seen a 20% increase in participation if compared to last year, by this year there are more than 4,000 national and international runners, of which 65% are women, which is also an increase, in line with the organizing commission’s desire to inspire women in sports.

On behalf of the organizing commission, he has expressed his strong determination for 2027, the organizing commission will strive to organize better and inspire more people to participate in the race than in 2026, by he put the goal of increasing the number of participants to 5,000 by promoting the event more widely, especially by opening registration several months before the event.
