Ju-Jitsu Federation of Cambodia to Host 5th Southeast Asian Regional Championship in 2026

Phnom Penh: According to the Cambodia Jiu-Jitsu Federation (JJFC) stated that, Cambodia will host the event of the 5th Southeast Asian Regional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which scheduled to be held in August 2026 in Siem Reap province. 

Mr. Jasper Martijn Paas, First Vice President of the Federation, said that: The hosting rights were awarded during the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between H.E.Thong Panhathun, President of the Cambodia Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Union (JJAU), represented by H.E. Fahad Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Union. The Memorandum of Understanding was finalized on October 30, 2025, during the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.

Mr. Jasper Martijn Paas continued that: During the MOU, the Cambodia Jiu-Jitsu Federation (JJFC) has also presented a book about the tourist area of ​​Siem Reap Province, where the federation plans to organize this competition event, to contribute to promoting about the tourist area to all participants who come to joint in this competition event. 


Hosting of this event in Siem Reap province is an opportunity to strengthen Jiu-Jitsu in the region and to promote to all participants about the richness of the culture and tourism area of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Not only that, the Federation is also working closely with relevant ministries, institutions, authorities and organizations to organize this work smoothly and will be looking for partners and sponsors to make this event an unforgettable event for all parties involved.” 


At the same time, H.E. Thong Panhathun also said that: “We are very proud to have signed this Memorandum of Understanding, which is the first major event that received permission from the Jiu Jitsu Asian Union (JJAU) to allow us to organize regional international competitions in Cambodia. We have achieved great achievements from past competitions, including the Jiu Jitsu competition at the 32nd SEA Games. We are now ready to take the next step in the deep development of Jiu Jitsu in Cambodia.”
