Cambodia and Russia expressed willingness to support each other in sports diplomacy

H.E. Dr. Senior Minister Thong Khon, President of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, met and discussed with H.E. Annatoly Borovik, Ambassador of Russia to Cambodia, at the headquarters of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia on Wednesday afternoon, September 10, 2025.

 

 H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, said that, this important meeting focused on cooperation in the Olympic and Paralympic movements, as well as relation and mutual support in sports diplomacy.

 H.E. Secretary General continued that, Russia is also ready to support the provision of scholarships to Cambodian sports students and the training of professional sports skills and human resources in the sports sector in Cambodia. At the same time, Olympic Movement cooperation between the two countries must also be strengthened because Russia needs the support of member countries, the Olympic Movement, sports diplomacy on the international stage, both the Olympic and Paralympic Movements, as well as mutual support between the Olympic and Paralympic Sports of the two countries.

 H.E. Vath Chamroeun also emphasized that, because Russia is a country with high qualifications in the field of sports, Cambodia can learn a lot both in terms of personal training and sports science, sports psychology, as well as management. In fact, many sports leaders in Cambodia have been former students who studied in Russia in the past.
