Former Cambodian boxer Phal Sophat is surprised by current players’ abilities

Mr. Phal Sophat, the former best Cambodian national boxer, expressed his surprise to the abilities of younger current players. He said that, although Cambodia boxing is not very competitive, but the current players have advanced techniques that he never imagined and can also make neighboring countries admire them.


The older brother of player Phal Sophoan said that, “After seeing the Dragon the Golden Ring competition, I was surprised by the abilities of current younger players. Even though they are not very competitive in the local market, but they have shown very good technical abilities and seem to be improving.”

At the same time, Mr. Phal Sophat advised his current younger players to work hard to improve their abilities, while the Vatthanac Company participates to sponsoring and organizing monthly professional level competitions, which has never been done before.


Mr. referee of the professional boxing program (Dragon the Golden Ring) emphasized that, Cambodian boxing youth must work hard to learn technique from strong countries to further strengthen their own abilities.

Mr. Phal Sophat was a member of the national boxing team from 2003 to 2011. He previously won a silver medal at the SEA Games in Laos, where he defeated Malaysia in the quarterfinals and Indonesia in the semifinals before losing to the Philippines in the final.
