H.E. Dr. Thong Khon requests India site to help develop cricket in Cambodia

H.E. Dr. Senior Minister Thong Khon, President of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, allowed Dr. Sirajudeen, an Indian businessman, to pay a courtesy call and discussing some important matters at the conference room of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia on Thursday morning, January 29, 2026.

H.E. Buy Sophoan, Advisor to the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, said that the meeting focused on tourism and investment development, and H.E. Dr. Thong Khon also asked Dr. Sirajudeen to help support the development of sports, especially cricket, which India is famous and has abundant resources.

In this regard, H.E. Dr. Thong Khon requested to Dr. Sirajudeen to help the support and development as well as training of the national team and support the federation to develop athletes and team resources in preparation for the 2028 Olympic qualifiers in the United States.

In response, Dr. Sirajudeen expressed his commitment to assist by contacting the Indian side to send experts and support the federation in developing athlete’s resources and cricket techniques. The doctor added that, next week he will invite cricket experts from India to visit Cambodia and review this cooperation.
