Hosting the 2026 ASEAN Sports Senior Officials’ Meeting and the 2027 ASEAN Sports Ministers’ Meeting is an opportunity to attract support and demonstrate the effectiveness of the preparations to gain support from ASEAN and ASEAN partners, according to H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

His Excellency the Secretary of State said that, hosting the two important meetings also shows that Cambodia is a peace-loving country, which is a message to the world that sports bring peace, sports live in peace, and for ASEAN to see Cambodia’s efforts to work for well-being, security, and avoid disputes. Meanwhile, after successfully hosting the 2023 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games, Cambodia will host the 2028 ASEAN University Games and the 2029 Asian Youth Games and Asian Para Youth Games.

Cambodia is fully prepared to host the event well and successfully, and according to the plan, it will be held in Siem Reap. Taking advantage of that opportunity, Cambodia will seek support in organizing a traditional ASEAN sports event or competition that can be held in Siem Reap.
